i.Getting started
3 quick answersWhat is Kio Cam?
Kio Cam is a digital photo booth app for iPhone. It shoots vintage-style photo strips with 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 cuts, includes 100+ frames, a custom frame builder, Photo, Burst and Ghost modes, film filters, stickers and text. Everything happens on your device, with no accounts and no photo uploads.
How do I use Kio Cam for the first time?
Open the app and pick a layout, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 cuts, or open the custom frame builder. Allow camera access when prompted. Tap the shutter to capture, or import from your library. Pick a frame, drop in stickers or text, then save the strip to your camera roll, share, or AirPrint.
Which iPhones and iPads does Kio Cam support?
Any iPhone or iPad running iOS 13.0 or later. The same app runs on iPad with the same feature set, which makes it well suited for weddings, baby showers and events where guests pass the device around.
ii.Camera modes
the fun onesWhat is Burst mode?
Burst captures 4 quick frames per slot with a single tap and exports the sequence as a looping GIF. Perfect for action, candids and group photos where one frame is never enough.
What is Ghost mode (double exposure)?
Ghost mode captures two shots per slot and blends them into a soft, translucent still double exposure. A dreamy long-exposure effect without the tripod or the math.
Which film filters are included?
Kodak Gold, Polaroid, Sepia, Black & White and more. Each filter is tuned for grain and color rendering that feels like real film, not a generic Instagram preset.
iii.The frame builder
design your ownWhat is the Custom Frame Builder?
A canvas where you design your own photo strip layout from scratch. Add up to six photo spaces in six shapes (square, rectangle, triangle, circle, hexagon, heart), drag and rotate them anywhere. Drop a background texture on top. Add stickers and text. Save the whole design as a reusable template.
How many photo slots can a custom frame have?
Up to six photo slots per custom frame. Each slot can be a different shape and size. Double-tap a filled slot to enter photo edit mode (zoom, reposition, retake, or remove the photo from the slot).
What slot shapes are available?
Six shapes: square, rectangle, triangle, circle, hexagon and heart. Each shape can be resized, rotated and positioned anywhere on the canvas.
Can I save custom frames and reuse them?
Yes, with Kio Cam Pro. Save any custom layout as a template, give it a name, and pull it up instantly for the next shoot. Templates are stored on your device only.

vi.Events & weddings
your photo boothCan I use Kio Cam as a photo booth at a wedding or party?
Yes, that's exactly what Kio Cam is built for. Set an iPhone or iPad on a stand, run Kio Cam, choose a layout that matches the event, and let guests shoot their own strips. A lightweight photo booth setup without a rental booth. Guests can save, share, or AirPrint when the event setup supports it.
What's the best setup for an event?
- An iPad or iPhone on an adjustable tripod or stand, at chest height.
- Good lighting. A soft LED ring light makes everyone look great.
- A simple backdrop (cloth, paper, plants).
- Build a custom frame template beforehand with the date and names baked into the layout.
- A stable stand or tripod so guests can pose hands-free.
- Optional: AirPrint to a Polaroid Hi-Print or Instax Link so guests walk away with a printed strip.
Can guests use the app without my supervision?
Yes. The interface is designed to be guest-friendly. For best results enable iOS Guided Access (Settings, Accessibility, Guided Access) and lock the device into Kio Cam during the event so nobody accidentally swipes away.
vii.Privacy
on-device, end of storyAre my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Every photo is processed entirely on your device. Kio Cam has no accounts, no logins and never uploads your photos. Your memories stay yours. Read the full privacy policy.
Does Kio Cam need an account?
No. Open the app and start creating. The only Apple ID involvement is Pro subscription handling, which runs entirely through Apple's App Store, not us.
What about ads and tracking?
Free users may see ads from Google AdMob. iOS will ask you for permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track," ads are non-personalized and your IDFA is not used. Pro subscribers see no ads anywhere in the app.
viii.Troubleshooting
the quick fixesThe camera isn't working
Go to iPhone Settings, Kio Cam and make sure Camera, Photos and Microphone are set to Allow. Restart the app after changing permissions. If it still doesn't work, force-quit (swipe up and swipe Kio Cam away) and reopen.
Frames or stickers won't download
Premium assets are streamed from a CDN. Check your internet connection. Tap the download icon next to the item to retry. Downloaded assets are cached locally, so the first download is the only one that needs network.
I can't save photos to my library
Go to iPhone Settings, Kio Cam, Photos and set it to "Add Photos Only" or "Full Access." Try saving again.
The app crashes or freezes
Force-quit the app, restart your iPhone, check the App Store for an update. If it still crashes, email getkiocam@gmail.com with your iPhone model and iOS version and we'll dig in.
Is there an Android version?
The current public download is for iPhone and iPad on the App Store.
